The Gill Story
The Gill Electric Company was founded in 1920 by Lawrence Gill, and is located in Redlands, California. At that time, Gill Electric manufactured batteries for the automotive industry and later went on to manufacture batteries for military ground and aircraft applications. Gill perfected the dry-charged process providing a factory fresh product when the electrolyte is added. Gill is the OEM “original equipment battery” for Raytheon, Cessna, Learjet, Mooney, Piper, Ayres, Airtractor, Maule, Schewizer, Cirrus and others in the aviation industry, and Gill continues to be the industry’s choice for quality battery products.
Gill Electric became a Teledyne company in 1966.
Gill developed lightweight 24 volt batteries for use in today’s modern general aviation aircraft and also a line high- performance, high-rate discharge lead-acid batteries for jet and turbo-prop aircraft. Today, Gill’s line of 600 series batteries has become a standard in the industry.
Gill’s STC program provides approval for popular corporate aircraft, making installation an easy task. This ongoing program continues with new approvals being added on a regular basis.
Gill’s new 7000 Series LT (Sealed, nonspillable) Batteries has received FAA approval for many aircraft and has become original equipment on a growing list of airframe manufactures.
Ground-power start cart batteries are also manufactured by Gill.
Gill accessories include chargers to effectively boost charge lead-acid batteries. Connectors and other related accessories are also available from your Gill distributor and dealer.
When aircraft battery needs arise, specify “GILL” – dependable batteries since 1920. www.gillbatteries.com Visit us at NBAA Booth #C9538 See our ad on page 63
