Business Aviation’s Largest Annual Event Just Around the Corner
The year’s biggest business aviation event is almost here, and Attendees can look forward to exciting offerings \at the 64th Annual Meeting & Convention (NBAA2011) in Las Vegas, NV.
Around 25,000 Attendees are expected at the Las Vegas Convention Center from Monday, October 10 to Wednesday, October 12, including for the first time, aircraft on display right outside the Convention Center, directly adjacent to the indoor exhibits – offering unprecedented access to the latest aircraft.
Dual Static Display
This special outdoor display area of approximately 20 of the latest designs in aircraft will be in addition to the full Static Display at nearby Henderson Executive Airport (HDN), which will feature more than 100 aircraft.
“The wingspan of the aircraft displayed directly outside the Convention Center cannot exceed 50 feet, so many of the aircraft on the new display will consist of the lighter business airplanes,” says NBAA’s Linda Peters, vice president exhibits.
“NBAA has worked closely with officials at the Las Vegas Convention Center to make this space available for the display of aircraft immediately adjacent to the Exhibit Hall,” Peters explains. “Las Vegas is one of the few
cities where there’s a short stretch of roadway that leads from the international airport to the Convention Center, and this allows us to move aircraft without many obstructions.”
It also will mean more opportunities to see the latest in light business airplanes during breaks in the packed NBAA2011 schedule.
Celebrate With Aviation Legends
NBAA2011 also will mark opportunities to celebrate with two illustrious leaders in business aviation, recipients of the 2011 NBAA Meritorious Service to Aviation Award and the 2011 NBAA John P. “Jack” Doswell Award.
The “flyingest pilot ever,” as legendary pilot and entrepreneur Clay Lacy is known, will be presented the Meritorious Service to Aviation Award, and international business aviation pioneer Don Spruston will be recognized with the Doswell Award.
The Meritorious Service to Aviation Award is NBAA’s most distinguished honor, presented annually to an individual who, by virtue of a lifetime of personal dedication, has made significant, identifiable contributions that have materially advanced aviation interests.
The Doswell Award is granted for lifelong individual achievement on behalf of and in support of the aims, goals and objectives of business aviation in the spirit of the late Jack Doswell, who was himself a pioneer in advancing the cause of business aviation.
Both men will receive their honors during NBAA2011.
“NBAA is proud to recognize these two outstanding leaders in the business aviation community for their lifelong service and invaluable contributions to the industry,” said NBAA President and CEO Ed Bolen. m
