If six 170-pounders are aboard (hardly typical), about half tanks will take the airplane 500 miles.How Does The Silver Eagle Perform?Start-up procedure is simpler than hot-starting a big piston; engaging the start switch provides ignition and begins N1 rotation. When 15% N1 is observed, the condition lever is moved to “run” and a rise in TOT (turbine outlet temperature) is monitored for exceedance of the starting redline. At 58% N1, the starter is switched off and generator mode is selected. The little Rolls-Royce is known for reliably-cool starting.With air conditioning turned on, moving the prop/condition lever full forward and nudging up the power initiates taxi. The P210’s small windows and tall panel limitvisibility somewhat, but the high wing makes it easy to observe maingear track. Pretakeoff checks include trim interrupt, overspeed governor, backup vacuum, fuel pumps, and annunciator lights.
