Myanma Airways, championed by Captain Than Tun and His Excellency Nyan Htun Aung, focused on developing the rural parts of the country where the scheduled airlines were not yet providing service. These areas have limited or undeveloped airstrips, for which the Caravan is ideal. There is a plan to have an initial fleet of six aircraft within the Myanma Airways fleet.Myanma Airways and the Ministry of Transport are in the process of creating a new entity under MA, called Myanma General Aviation, which will focus on building and operating a fleet of Caravans to meet the current and future General Aviation needs in Myanmar. It has become very apparent that the Caravan’s versatility, reliability and low cost have made it a topchoice for a utility aircraft type in the country. There is growing interest among other operators and various businesses to potentially use the Caravans. They have been watching Myanma Airways’ operations very carefully since the aircraft were delivered.
