The partnership between Sierra Industries, Inc. and Hawker Beechcraft leverages the expertise of Sierra’s work with Williams- engine upgrades on Cessna Citations. Because the Hawker/Beechjet 400 is well known for its rugged airframe, sizable cabin and reliable systems, it’s an excellent candidate for modernization. The Williams engines provide both increased thrust and better efficiency, placing the 400XPR in a new performance category. The projected performance increase of the 400XPR package includes climbing to FL370 in 12 minutes, after a full gross weight departure. The more-efficient FADEC-equipped Williams engines are expected to provide a range of better than 2,000 nautical miles with maximum fuel.
The Hawker Beechcraft-designed winglets are in development and are expected to be certified in August, 2012. The already-certified Pro Line 21 avionics suite is an option, to be specified as desired by the customer. The Rockwell Collins Pro Line 21 suite includes 8-by-10 inch LCD displays, capable of working with an optional Integrated Flight Information System with satellite weather, enhanced charts and approach plates. An FMS 4.0 WAAS upgrade allows LPV approaches.
The Williams FJ44-4A-32 engines are capable of producing 3,600 pounds of thrust, but are flat rated at 3,200 pounds to enhance high and hot performance. They will offer 25% improvement in range at long-range cruise power over the JT-15Ds. Overhaul interval is set at 5,000 hours, without intermediate removal under normal conditions.
In addition to the XPR upgrade packages for existing owners, Hawker Beechcraft also plans to offer Factory Completed Aircraft for those customers who do not currently own an aircraft. A number of system enhancements beyond the engines, winglets and avionics, including available interior and exterior refurbishing,•will significantly improve performance, operatingcostandresalevalue.
