Bontrager moved on to serving PB4Y crews doing overseas shoreline patrol duties.By mid-year 1946, less than 30 Naval Air Stations remained at full operational status. The Hutchinson NAS was decommissioned a couple of years later, but much of the base remains today as an active glider port as well as an industrial site.
