Textron Aviation Achieves ADS-B Certification for
Wthe Mustang
ith the looming deadline for compliance with the ADS-B
mandate, Textron has completed certification of ADS-B for the Citation Mustang. The now available retrofit modification must be completed at company-owned service centers.
“Taking care of our customers is our top priority, and we are committed to ensuring owners and operators across all our platforms are well-equipped to comply with the upcoming mandate requirements,” said Brad Thress, senior vice president, customer service.
The completion of the Mustang ADS-B rounds out Textron Aviation’s certification efforts for its complete product line including Citations, Hawkers and King Airs. The company said one advantage of getting the installation accomplished at a company-owned store is that worldwide compliance is guaranteed. In 2016, it issued 10 service bulletins for ADS-B for various airframes and has completed 1,000 installations. Owners and operators should contact a Textron Aviation service center for more information on specific airframe and avionics.
Operation in some regions, including Australia and other areas in Southeast Asia and the Pacific Rim, already require ADS-B Out capability. Europe•began requiring ADS-B Out for new aircraft operating there earlier this year, with a retrofit deadline in mid-2020. Operations in the United States will require ADS-B Out capability January 1, 2020. T&T
