Premiere Aviation Wheel Covers Proven To Boost Twin Cessna PerformanceNew Series III Speed Cover Eases Filler AccessOn May 28, 2014, Premiere Aviation conducted single- engine climb tests in a Cessna 421C, determining the effectiveness of its wheel cover modification under carefully-matched conditions, with and without the covers installed. With full fuel at takeoff, three aboard, and the right engine feathered after 3 minutes to stabilize, airspeed was maintained at 111 knots from 3,500 feet to 5,000 feet. Using 100% power on the good engine, the results were demonstrably better with the Premiere covers installed to smooth airflow over the retracted maingear:With CoversAltitude Airspeed Time ROC OAT FuelIn Feet KIAS Elapsed FPM Degrees F Remaining3500' 111 0 - 67° F 193.64000' 111 1:51.74 268 63° F 192.44500' 111 3:47.56 255 60° F 191.05000' 111 5:56.34 233 57° F 189.0Without CoversAltitude Airspeed Time ROC OAT FuelIn Feet KIAS Elapsed FPM Degrees F Remaining3500' 111 0 - 67° F 194.84000' 111 2:15.71 221 63° F4500' 111 4:48.02 197 60° F 191.25000' 111 7:12.37 207 57° F 189.630 • TWIN & TURBINEWinner Aviation, Inc.Quarter Page4/C AdWhile the fuel savings from increased cruise speed and lessened drag have already made Premiere’s wheel covers popular, the added safety in an engine-out situation could be even more valuable than monetary considerations. Attached to the stock wheel with custom brackets, the composite cover smooths airflow over the exposed maingear wheel and tire. Premiere covers are applicable to 402C, 414A, 421C, 425 and 441 models. The latest Series III covers now permit servicing through a valve stem extension while the cover remains in place.
