ENTERTAINMENTAttendees say that after enhancing safety, the second reason they attend yearly is to renew friendships and enjoy the Cessna family. Highlighting this year’s event was the Napa Nights wine tasting, featuring vintners Larry Turley – Turley Wines, Bo Barrett – Chateau Montelena, and Ehren Jordan – Failla, and their latest offerings, flown in from California in a Citation for a unique tasting in alakeside venue. And how do you get to the lake venue? Just jump on a chartered boat with 300 of your closest friends and follow an L-39 flying close support, piloted by astronaut Charlie Precourt and his sidekick Stuart Fred. To top that off, one hundred andfifty-three Formula One wannabes participated in the Jaguar Challenge to see who could drive the fastest lap in a high powered Jag without totaling the vehicle. Luckily, no insurance claims occurred.HALL OF FAME PRESENTATIONIn a first for the organization, “Mr. Citation” Russ Meyer was presented with the first CJP Hall of Fame Award in front of admiring fans, during a special dinner at theconclusion of the convention. On hand were numerous executives who worked with Russ during the development of the Citation product line, as well as his number-one customer and friend for over 51 years, Arnold Palmer. Arnie spoke of their long-term relationship and how his Citation X has been an invaluable business tool. During a hugely successful live auction, funds were raised to support the creation of the Russ Meyer Forum/Library, which is projected to become the premier source of information about the Citation product line.WHAT'S NEXT?Convention Chairman Tom Poberezny said, “Our partners and sponsors deserve our sincere appreciation for their support of the convention and CJP.” The 2013 event will take place October 2-6 at the Marriott Star Pass resort in Tucson, Arizona.My bags are packed.
